This is YOUR opportunity to “weigh” in and be heard and share your ideas. Chapter Presidents need to communicate to their President-Elects about this opportunity – NSA is wanting as many people in every chapter to communicate and participate in this brainstorming process through these forums:
Currently, the chapter model is one of decentralization – there is a lot of effectiveness to be gained through optimizing some of the chapter functions (such as chapter websites, calendar of events, membership on-line billing systems, etc.).
The main purpose of this entire re-chartering dialogue is to position chapters to be able to function more successfully. It is not because something is broken and NSA is trying to “fix” something. There are many ways that NSA can make it easier for you to run your chapters more effectively and efficently. In order to achieve this, we are asking for your input, ideas, and suggestions.
The intent is for NSA and the chapters to work collaboratively – it is an organic process – vs. a mandated process that NSA BOD or Headquarters is attempting to “put on” the chapters. For more information about the context and background, please refer the Chapter Recharter Position Paper.
NSA will continue to collect comments and input for the next 3 ½ months to culminate in a Chapter Summit held on Friday, November 20th starting at 10:00am. Click on the links about the Chapter Summit Agenda and How the Chapter Summit Will Work.
After the Chapter Summit , all the ideas and input will be organized in a formal proposal to be presented to NSA Board of Directors in February. The goal is that by June 1, 2010 there will be new chapter affiliation agreements based upon what was discussed at the Chapter Summit.
We realize that some of these changes will not occur over night. Some will be a process and others will be easy to implement. We appreciate your patience, understanding and willingness to be a part of the process.
