Starting a New PEG

Professional Experts Groups (PEG's) Policies

A. Requirements to Form and Maintain a PEG

  1. Requests for formation of new PEGs shall be submitted in two phases. Phase 1—Submit to the Board of Directors the name and description of the proposed PEG. If approved, Phase 2 will consist of submitting a complete request to the current PEG Committee Chair who, in consultation with the President, Executive Vice President and individual PEG Chairs, will present such requests to the Board with a recommendation based on the following criteria:
    1. A minimum of fifty (50) current NSA members signing a request for PEG formation.
    2. Specific rationale/criteria established for member participation in the PEG.
    3. Stated purpose consistent with NSA purpose.
    4. Indication of any potential conflicts with existing PEGs with the opportunity provided for input from such PEGs prior to approval.
    5. Proposed program plan and budget.
    6. Responsible leadership identified and committed.
    7. Acceptance of dues surcharge.
    8. Name of PEG.
    9. Estimated membership.
    10. Objective.
    11. Need addressed (February 1995)
  1. A minimum number of thirty (30) members is required to maintain formal recognition of a PEG. (December 1989)
  2. Every PEG must have the following active leadership positions: Vice Chair, Chair, and Immediate Past Chair. (February 1998)
