In 1998 the NSA Board of Directors approved funds for a chapter leadership training camp -- a weekend designed to hone the leadership skills of chapter presidents-elect. In November 1998 NSA's International Center located in Tempe, Arizona hosted the first-ever Camp NSA.
Camp NSA is designed to bring together committed volunteer chapter leaders and centralize their experience with other volunteer leaders and NSA headquarters staff. The mission is to create a strong relationship that strengthens communication, increases cooperation and heightens the experience that the individual member has in the local chapter environment. Incoming chapter presidents will learn valuable leadership and association management tools and discover opportunities to serve at the national level.
Rooming
NSA will pay for your room for two nights, November 18 and 19. There is no need to contact the hotel directly to reserve your room, NSA will arrange this for you.
If you are staying over for the Fall Conference, please make a note in your Camp NSA Registration the date you wish to check out. NSA will ensure that your stay is extended. The room rate for additional nights is $170 plus tax. You will be required to provide a method of payment when you register to cover your expenses for the Fall Conference upon check in.

Chapter Summit

Each chapter is asked to send two delegates to the Chapter Summit: the president-elect and one additional delegate. Each delegate is responsible for his/her own expenses. It is up to each chapter to decide if and how reimbursement of travel and rooming expenses will be covered.
The intent of the Chapter Summit is for the presidents-elect and chapter delegates to examine the results from the chapter re-charter discussions (collected via the Chapters of the Future Discussion Forum, Chapter Leadership Session at Convention and communications via phone and email) and collaboratively decide what chapter functions (such as chapter websites, calendar of events, membership on line, billing systems, etc) should be included in the new chapter charter. The results will become a formal proposal submitted to the National Board at the February Winter Conference. Fall Conference
If you choose to attend the Fall Conference (November 20-22 at the Arizona Grand Resort), you will receive a special registration rate of $397. To register for the Fall Conference, please contact NSA at 480.968.2552. Don't forget to mention you are attending Camp NSA to receive the special rate.
